When Apple launched the M3 MacBook Air models in March 2024, it announced that dual external displays could be connected with the lid closed. While this feature made software developers and video production enthusiasts very happy, some Macbook Pro users reacted.
Dual External Display Support Arrives with macOS Sonoma 14.6!
The M3 14-inch MacBook Pro, released in October 2023, did not have such a feature, and Apple stated that it would add this support with a software update it would release in the future. The expected feature came with the macOS Sonoma 14.6 update.
The 13-inch M3 MacBook Pro now supports one external display at 6K resolution with the lid open, or two external displays at 5K resolution at up to 60 Hz with the lid closed. MacBook Pros with M3 Pro and M3 Max processors are not affected by this situation because they already support multiple displays.
New macOS Sequoia Introduced That Will Make Windows History
The new macOS Sequoia was introduced at WWDC 2024, Apple’s developers conference held today.
Therefore, the improvement in question is only valid for the 14-inch M3 MacBook Pro. In addition to dual external display support, a number of security vulnerabilities were closed with macOS Sonoma 14.6.
