Microsoft has started testing a new file sharing feature to make the Phone Link app more functional for iPhone users. Users registered in the Windows Insiders program can easily transfer files between their iPhone and Windows computers thanks to this new feature.
Users who download version 1.24112.89.0 or higher of the updated Phone Connection application can access a new setup screen that makes it possible to share files between iPhone and PC. This feature allows you to select a file using the “Link to Windows” application on the “share sheet” in iOS and specify the Windows device to share it with.
Sending files from a Windows computer to an iPhone is also very practical. Users can transfer the file to iPhone by right-clicking on a local file, selecting the “Share” option, and then selecting the “My Phone” option.
Microsoft doesn’t offer all Phone Link features to iPhone users
Microsoft is constantly improving the Phone Link app for both iOS and Android devices. But iPhone users’ experience is still limited due to Apple’s operating system restrictions. For example, the ability to send and receive messages via iMessage was added to the Phone Link application last year. However, this feature only supports individual messaging; There is no group messaging capability. Additionally, the app must be open for users to send messages via iMessage. Since Microsoft does this with Bluetooth and system notifications, some restrictions remain.
This new file sharing feature, launched by Microsoft for Windows Insiders, will be available to all Phone Connection users in the coming months. Especially for iOS users, this development promises a smoother cross-device connection experience.
While Android users can mirror their phone apps directly to the computer screen via Phone Link, this feature is not yet available for iPhone users. This new file sharing feature from Microsoft aims to make iPhone users more compatible with the Windows ecosystem.
This update, which is currently available to Windows Insider users, is expected to reach all Phone Connection users in the coming months. This development aims to strengthen the integration between iPhone and Windows users.
