Microsoft released Windows 10 and Windows 10 after criticism from users. on Windows 11 ads shown took a step back. The company, which was trying to switch Windows 10 users to the new generation operating system, could not withstand the recent reactions.
Windows 11 ads appearing in Windows 10 have been withdrawn
Earlier this year, Microsoft began sending notifications for the Windows 11 upgrade to Windows 10 Pro and Pro Workstation computers. Offering “free upgrade” to users, the company promised to upgrade the operating system with a single button.
“Yes” buttons were prominent in Windows 11 ads, and the Stay in Windows 10 option was displayed with a small link in the corner. However, this planning seems to disturb many Windows 10 users.
Following the reactions, Microsoft updated its initial announcement. Accordingly, it has confirmed that it will no longer display ads through monthly security updates. However, the company still sends notifications to some devices aiming to switch them to the new operating system over time.
In this context, Microsoft will share a new timeline for Windows 11 distribution in the coming months. As for advertising, it will switch to a less disturbing structure. So far, it has not been announced how this new timeline will be determined.
It’s important to note that Windows 10 still has more than a year of support and an Extended Security Updates program. However, despite this period, Microsoft is trying to switch users to Windows 11.
