MINI brings together the legendary John Cooper Works models with electric power. Developed from the foundations of the new generation MINI Cooper SE, the John Cooper Works E Prototype will be excitedly introduced at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.

MINI John Cooper Works E Prototype: Power and Performance of the Electric Hot Hatch

MINI’s new electric hot hatch, John Cooper Works E, will be equipped primarily with a 54kWh capacity battery and an electric motor mounted on the front axle.

This technology provides a platform designed to deliver powerful performance and driving dynamics. Inspired by the MINI Cooper SE model currently on the market, the JCW E was also developed with the support of China-based Great Wall Motors.

In interviews with MINI’s engineers, it is stated that the new platform can support a dual-motor configuration. This means the upcoming JCW model could be designed much more powerfully. However, during the introduction of the prototype at Goodwood, no clear information was given about which powertrain would be used.

More information on the technical specifications and driving dynamics of the new JCW E will be presented at the festival, along with the dynamic unveiling of the prototype.

The vehicle will be equipped with chassis improvements such as wider wheels and tires, larger brakes and a stiffened suspension tuning.

However, due to the 1,700 kg weight of the Cooper SE, it is stated that the new JCW model may not be as light as previous generations, but it has been adjusted to offer a balanced driving pleasure.

The MINI John Cooper Works E will be fully unveiled later this year. The electric hot hatch will attract attention with its performance and driving quality and will stand out as an important step that will carry MINI’s sports car heritage into the electric age.
