The Ministry of Commerce announced that it imposed an administrative fine of approximately 230 million TL on 40 e-commerce companies that were found to have victimized consumers in the first half of 2024. The Ministry stated that the penalties were imposed within the scope of inspections carried out to protect the economic interests of consumers.

The reasons behind these penalties are listed as order cancellations on the grounds that the product is not in stock without the knowledge and approval of the consumer, failure to deliver the purchased products within the period specified in the legislation, and failure to refund the price for contracts terminated by consumers due to non-compliance with these periods.
Finally, it was underlined that inspections will continue unabated to protect consumer rights and prevent unfair competition.
