Machinery and Chemical Industry (MKE) is taking an important step in the Black Sea to produce critically important materials needed by the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF). Accordingly, Çarşamba Sugar Factory will be used for the defense industry. A resource of 2 billion TL will be allocated in the first 18 months of the project.
Çarşamba Sugar Factory was transferred to MKE for 2 billion TL
According to the statement, Çarşamba Sugar Factory, which has not been used for a long time, was transferred to the Ministry of National Defense. This decision marks the beginning of an important step towards the defense industry in the region. It was stated that the region in question will become the center of vital production activities in the defense industry.
Speaking on the subject, Turkish Grand National Assembly member Mehmet Muş said, “The basic inputs used in the production of ammunition, rockets and missiles in the factory will be produced entirely domestically. “In this way, our defense industry’s need for external resources will significantly decrease,” he said.
It was emphasized that after MKE’s initial investment of 2 billion TL, the scope of the project will be expanded with new investments in line with the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces. It was stated that in determining the personnel to work in the factory, former employees will be evaluated first.
In the first phase, it is planned to employ more than 100 people in total, 50 of whom will be in managerial positions. Muş also stated that the existing installations and materials of the factory will be moved to other sugar factories and reintroduced to the country’s economy.
