Netflix Windows application is among the most suitable options for watching something on a relatively large screen in environments where there is no internet connection. Windows users can download the content to their computers and watch it via the application without an internet connection. However, a new news suggests that Netflix aims to remove the feature of downloading content and watching offline from the Windows application.
The screenshot shared by Artem Russakovskii from his X account includes the following statements: “Coming soon: A new Windows application experience. The update includes access to live events, compatibility with ad-supported plans, and more! Downloads will no longer be supported, but you can still watch TV shows and movies offline on a supported mobile device.”
It can easily be said that this is bad news. However, another post on X points to a different situation. Although there is a similar message in the screenshot in this post, no information is given about canceling the download feature.
Netflix may be testing reaction to download feature in Windows app
It is not easy to say which claim is true. Although it is certain that there is a mistake in one of the two messages, it is currently unclear which one it is. However, it is also possible that Netflix will only warn those who use the download feature. Because the user who shared the second screenshot also states that he has not used the download feature before.
One possibility is that Netflix is conducting a test to measure future reactions. Since the company has carried out such tests before, it is necessary to consider this option.
