Neurralink, a neurotechnology company founded by Elon Musk, expanded the brain chip implant program to receive voluntary applications from the world. According to the announcement of the company’s official account on the X platform, the voluntary process, where only the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada citizens can participate in the global level, will now be carried out at a global level.
Neuralink receives applications for the brain chip project
Neuralink directly targets individuals who live with tetraPleji disease. TetraPleji states that one cannot use all his limbs, including hands and feet. Only individuals with this disease will be able to take part in the volunteering program.
It is claimed that the experimental chip placed in the brain enables patients to interact with the mind with digital devices. As a spring of 2025, Neuralink was successfully placed in three people. The first operation was carried out at the beginning of last year.
The company says that positive results have been obtained in patients where the chip has been placed so far. Hundreds or even thousands of patients are planned to be reached by enlarging the scale of the experimental process. In the new period, not only patients in certain countries, but also appropriate individuals living anywhere in the world will be able to apply to Neuralink to voluntarily participate in the program.
The program maintains its experimental status, but with the voluntary acceptance process, it is aimed to collect more comprehensive data on the effects of technology on human beings. Neuralink’s statements to the public, this process is carried out under scientific supervision and each application is subject to the evaluation of the Ethics Committee.
