New Developments in the Fatal Tesla Accident Case: Apple Is Also Involved!

In a pre-trial motion filed this week, attorneys representing Huang’s family accused Apple of “conducting a secret discovery ‘study’ to support Tesla in its defense in the case.”

Was the Apple Engineer Playing Games During the Accident?

In its initial investigation, the National Transportation Safety Board found that the top app on Huang’s phone at the time of the crash was a video game, but authorities were unable to determine whether Huang was actively playing that game when his Model X crashed into the barrier.

However, historical cell phone records obtained from Huang’s phone discovered that he was “actively gaming” during the morning commute in the days before the accident, and that he was “actively gaming” data transmission “consistent with online gaming activity” in the minutes before the accident. Huang’s family alleges that he allowed games to run passively on his phone to collect data.

Due to Apple’s involvement in the case, the company’s lawyers filed an application to cancel the subpoena. “Apple is not a party to this lawsuit, has never participated in the litigation, and has not received notice of any decision regarding the dispute.” he stated.
