Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Steve Asbell announced that the new Planet of the Apes movie will be released in 2027. This film, which will also be directed by Wes Ball, is planned to be the second part of the trilogy. Although the series may continue after this trilogy. Because the producers of the series, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, stated in a recent statement that they dream of a series of nine films.
Planet of the Apes: New Kingdom takes place approximately 300 years after the last trilogy, completed with War for the Planet of the Apes. Although this new movie is not a direct sequel to that trilogy, it takes place in the same universe and follows a similar line with that trilogy in terms of both its tone and character designs.
In Planet of the Apes: The New Kingdom, we see an ape civilization whose cognitive development has advanced greatly and is now about to enter its own Bronze Age. During this period, people, whose cognitive abilities are declining and their numbers are rapidly decreasing, appear as enslaved, second-level beings in this new civilization. The film follows an ape named Noa, who, along with a young woman (Freya Allan), embarks on an adventure that could determine the fate of both humans and apes.
The sequel, which will be released in 2027, will continue to tell the story of Noa and his tribe.
