According to information confirmed by senior executives of Dell and NVIDIA, NVIDIA is preparing to produce artificial intelligence (AI) processors for computers using the Windows operating system. The company’s new processor will join the Windows on ARM (WoA) AI PC ecosystem, where Qualcomm is currently the only player.

Considering that NVIDIA is preparing to launch its AI PC processor in 2025, it is thought that the company will use reference ARM IP CPU cores such as ARM Cortex X5 Blackhawk. Thus, the company may not have to turn to developing its own CPU cores on ARM machine architecture, like Apple. Of course, depending on how the market responds to its chips, NVIDIA may eventually develop its own cores as well.
The company may also use the most advanced 3nm class node available in 2025 in its chip, such as the TSMC N3P. Considering that even Apple and Qualcomm will be building their new laptop chips on this node, it would be a logical node choice for NVIDIA.
It is also rumored that NVIDIA may integrate an iGPU based on the Blackwell graphics architecture for its new AI PC processor. This will enable the chip to have high-performance graphics, allowing it to support graphics technologies such as DirectX 12 Ultimate and Vulkan.
For artificial intelligence acceleration, which is the purpose of this chip, it is thought that the iGPU will be used as an AI coprocessor together with the tensor cores. So the company can expose the GPU as an NPU virtual device to Windows and speed up AI operations using a series of translation layers for software like TensorRT. This is easily achievable for NVIDIA, considering Microsoft’s NPU required to speed up a native session of Copilot+ is only 45 AI TOPS.
