NFC Wireless Charging support may come with Android 15

What is NFC Wireless Charging?

NFC Wireless Charging (WLC) feature was announced in 2020. With technology based on NFC contactless payment chip, using much smaller hardware Phones and accessories can be charged. However, since the charging speed is low compared to the Qi standard, it has not been widely adopted to date. WLC, 1 Watt charging speed from a distance of 2 cm with antennas that shrink down to 1 cm can offer. This makes the technology suitable for devices such as smart watches, wireless headphones and Bluetooth tracking tags.

According to Android Authority, the first beta version of Android 15 includes additions related to WLC support in the NFC APIs of the operating system. The news states that Google tried to bring WLC support in late 2021, but then gave up.

It looks like Google is reintroducing WLC support again. In this way, it may be possible to charge wireless accessories more easily. However, support needs to come not only on the software side, but also on the hardware side, and the technology needs to become widespread.
