NVIDIAhas released a tool that allows owners of GeForce RTX 30-series and 40-series graphics cards to run an AI-powered chatbot natively on Windows PCs.
Called ‘Chat with RTX’, the tool allows users to customize a GenAI model along the lines of OpenAI’s ChatGPT. In a blog post, NVIDIA summarized the situations in which the tool can be used as follows:
“Instead of searching through notes or saved content, users can simply type a query. For example, they can ask ‘What restaurant did my partner recommend when we were in Las Vegas?’ and Chat with RTX will scan the local files the user points to and provide the answer with its context.”
What Can Chat Do with RTX?
Chat with RTX By default it uses the open source model from AI startup Mistral, but it also supports other text-based models, including Meta’s Llama 2.
NVIDIA warns that downloading all the required files will consume a reasonable amount of storage, 50GB to 100GB depending on the model(s) chosen.
Currently, Chat with RTX can work with text, PDF, .doc, .docx and .xml formats. Pointing the application to a folder containing supported files loads the files into the model’s fine-tuning dataset. Additionally, Chat with RTX can retrieve the URL of a YouTube playlist and load transcriptions of the videos in the playlist, making it possible to query their content regardless of which model is chosen.
