Activision has confirmed that the next Call of Duty game will be Black Ops 6. The company updated the military shooter series’ website to make the announcement, revealing that “official lines of communication have begun.” This means the game’s marketing has moved from “pre-teaser” mode to reveal mode.

It looks like Microsoft plans to use the new Call of Duty game to increase Game Pass subscriptions. The Wall Street Journal announced this month that the game will be the first Call of Duty game to be added to Game Pass on launch day. We’ll have to wait to see if this strategy delivers the much-needed lift to justify the (potentially huge) loss of direct sales to Xbox console owners for the service.
