OnePlus (and its parent company OPPO) has been involved in a very long patent dispute with Nokia in the past, which at one point resulted in OnePlus and OPPO devices being banned from sale in Germany (and that ended just a few months ago), and now sadly history tells itself repeats.
Although this time the issue is not related to Nokia, there is a patent dispute with InterDigital over important patents for 5G and other mobile technologies.
OnePlus has removed its smartphones from its store again, but there does not appear to be a problem with other products. This clearly shows that the violation was with 5G.
A statement regarding the issue was also received from the company:
OnePlus attaches great importance to fair access to intellectual property rights and standard essential patents, which are essential for advancing innovation in the industry. We will continue negotiations with InterDigital and would like to resolve this issue amicably. Meanwhile, our commitment in Europe remains unchanged and we will continue to provide excellent products and services to our users.
This problem in sales will certainly be resolved, but it is possible to say that the user’s perspective towards OnePlus has been seriously affected.
