OpenAI has announced Tasks, a new beta feature for ChatGPT that gives users the ability to schedule reminders and recurring tasks. This feature, which will initially be offered to ChatGPT’s Plus, Team and Pro subscribers, is considered an important step towards ChatGPT gaining functionality closer to digital assistants.
What does the Tasks feature offer?
Thanks to this feature, users can define various reminders and regular tasks to ChatGPT. For example; Commands such as “Tell me about the weather every morning at 7 o’clock” or “My passport will expire in three months, warn me” can be given. When the specified time arrives, ChatGPT sends notifications to the user via web, desktop or mobile devices. Additionally, these tasks can be managed via the Tasks tab in ChatGPT’s web application.
Users can currently create up to 10 active missions at a time, and these missions can be repeated once or regularly. Additionally, ChatGPT can offer suggestions based on chats, but user approval is required for these suggestions to become active.
Tasks is more than just basic reminders. Users also gain the opportunity to submit regular information requests to ChatGPT. For example; More comprehensive tasks can be created, such as “Suggest a weekend plan based on my location and weather every Friday.” In addition, it is known that OpenAI is developing more advanced autonomous systems. According to Bloomberg, an artificial intelligence tool called “Operator” is planned to be introduced soon. It is stated that this system has the potential to control computers independently and take action on behalf of the user.
