Microsoft is officially canceling the Paint 3D application, which was first released in 2016 as a 3D version of the 2D Paint application. Paint 3D allowed users to create and edit 3D models and artworks on Windows 10.
Paint 3D for Windows will be discontinued
Things didn’t go as Microsoft expected for Paint 3D. It hasn’t gained a large user base compared to the Paint app, which millions of people already use. In this context, the company removed Paint 3D from the startup applications of Windows 10 in 2021.
The app has been available for download from the Microsoft Store on Windows 10 and Windows 11 for several years. However, as of November 4, Paint 3D will no longer be available for download or receive updates. Thus, the application will be removed from use.
Microsoft also stated that all installations will stop receiving support after this date. In fact, it must be said that this decision is not surprising. The technology giant has been bringing various features, including artificial intelligence, to the Paint application for a while.
It’s testing new features in Windows 11, such as resizable drawing tools and brand new pen and eraser tools.
It looks like Paint 3D has failed to translate Microsoft’s goal of creating 2D artwork into the third dimension. While the company continues to improve its classic experience with Paint, the 3D version will also become history.
