The camera installed in the vehicle analyzes the road condition and instantly fine-tunes the dynamic suspension system. The vehicle will be optimized for the road condition. It will be optimized in terms of safe driving and cruising comfort.
The system works by using data obtained from the camera placed on the windshield of the vehicle. The camera continuously scans the road surface and processes the images it obtains in real time. It can also detect sudden road irregularities and minor irregularities on the road. The vehicle’s suspension is optimized for safe driving and cruising comfort.
Completing his doctorate at BTÜ Dr. Mert BüyükköprüStating that thanks to the developed predictive control system, bumps, potholes and other irregularities on the road surface are detected in advance and the suspension system is adjusted accordingly, he said:
“Before the vehicle reaches surfaces with these disruptive effects, the suspension system makes the necessary adjustments and increases driving comfort. In this way, both roadholding and cruising comfort are improved. For example, when a bump on the road surface is detected, the suspension system softens it before approaching the bump or pothole, increasing the comfort of the driver and passengers. “It also contributes to the long life of the vehicle’s mechanical parts.”
The invention titled “Method Enabling Road Profile Estimation” was made by BTÜ and Oyak Renault Automobile Factories Inc. It was registered in partnership with the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office and was entitled to receive a patent certificate.
