Proton VPN browser add-on can now be used free of charge by those who do not make any payments to Proton. Previously, the add-on was only accessible to subscribers of the service’s paid plans. However, now those who use a Firefox or Chromium-based browser will be able to install the add-on. While Proton VPN’s Windows, Mac, iOS, Android and Linux apps are always free, they do come with some limitations. The service’s paid plans are faster, have over 100 countries to choose from, and let you connect up to 10 devices simultaneously. The extension allows you to use your standard internet connection outside of your browser. If you’re using an app that doesn’t work properly when you’re on a device-wide VPN, but you want to protect your connection or bypass region-based website blocks, the extension may solve your problem. Proton’s extension is not currently available in Safari. Proton also offers its VPN service with a Duo subscription. The company also recently launched a new plan called Proton Duo. This plan is designed for two users who will share 1 TB of storage. At the same time, full access to Proton Mail, Drive, Calendar, Pass and VPN will be available.
