Robert Pattinson is remaking the 1980s horror movie Possession

I don’t know if you are aware, but many horror movies have been released or are preparing to be released in 2024. Robert Pattinson, star of The Batman movie, and Parker Finn, director of Smile, are preparing to remake the 1981 cult horror movie Possession. The duo will work together on this project, and Finn will write, produce and direct the film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix, A24, Paramount and Warner Bros. are in talks for a remake of Possession. Many studios such as are competing to get the project. It was reported that discussions on this issue will be held this week.

Possession, directed and co-written by Polish director Andrzej Żuławski, is set in Germany and is about a couple going through a stormy divorce. The film stars Isabelle Adjani and Sam Neill (Jurassic Park, Hunt for the Wilderpeople). Possession offers a horror-filled story with events involving murder and even an alien. It is among GameSpot’s 13 scariest possession movies.

It is not yet clear whether Robert Pattinson will play Mark, the role originally played by Neill. The Hollywood Reporter notes that this will depend on the script and schedule. However, Pattinson is strictly producing the project under his own production company, Icki Eneo Arlo. Pattinson last met the audience in 2022 in the movie The Batman, and next year he will star in Parasite’s director Bong Joon-ho’s Mickey 17 movie.

Finn, on the other hand, is currently busy completing the movie Smile 2, which will be released in theaters in October. The remake of Possession seems to be the director’s next project.
