Digital gaming platform Roblox has implemented a new strategy to protect its users from app store fees. Now users who purchase Robux via computer, web or gift cards will be able to get up to 25 percent more Robux. This change was made public with an announcement on Roblox’s developer forum. It is worth remembering that Roblox is still closed to access in Turkey.
For example, a user who previously bought 800 Robux for $9.99 will now be able to have 200 additional Robux for the same amount, making a total of 1000 Robux. Similarly, those who use a $10 gift card will now be able to get 1000 Robux. This new pricing policy is not limited to the holiday season, but will be implemented permanently on a global scale.
Although Roblox does not make a clear explanation as to why this advantage is only valid for gift cards, computer and web purchases, it is thought that this move is intended to avoid the commissions charged by application stores and game console stores. For example, the fact that subscriptions made through YouTube Premium’s iOS app are more expensive reflects a similar strategy.
Such strategies allow companies to offer more value to their users by avoiding the commissions of up to 30 percent charged by app stores. Roblox’s approach aims to reduce costs from app store fees by encouraging users to purchase Robux directly on the platform or through gift cards.
Roblox also introduced its new “Party” tool
In addition, Roblox introduced a new “Party” tool on the platform to allow users to come together and communicate more easily. Thanks to this feature, up to six people can create a group and initially chat text-based. The voice chat feature is planned to be added in the coming months.
This step by Roblox aims to improve user experience and provide more interaction on the platform. The platform, which is especially popular among young users, aims to increase user loyalty with such innovations.
