Samsung put Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra on hold

Samsung is counting down for the Galaxy Unpacked event to be held in Paris. It is stated that the most anticipated product at the event to be held tomorrow is Galaxy Z Fold 6. However, rumors about a thinner and perhaps larger-screen version, the Z Fold 6 Ultra (or Z Fold 6 Slim), may turn into a disappointment, according to a new leak.

Latest information suggests that the Fold 6 Ultra project has been suspended for an indefinite period. The biggest appeal of the Ultra model was that it was thinner compared to the standard Fold 6. This feature would make Samsung a strong contender for the title of the world’s thinnest foldable phone, currently held by Honor’s Magic V2.

Honor is preparing to launch the Magic V3 model this month. The new model will be even thinner than the Magic V2. It is said that Xiaomi is similarly working on Mix Fold 4 and that this model will have an extremely thin profile.

The failure to launch the Fold 6 Ultra may indicate that Samsung cannot compete because the device is not thin enough. Alternatively, it is conceivable that the company has decided to direct its resources elsewhere. For whatever reason, this latest rumor marks a missed opportunity for Samsung.

Samsung, which has been the leader in the foldable phone market for years, has recently been at the risk of losing its market share. Especially the innovative moves of Chinese manufacturers have reduced Samsung’s market share.
