Samsung got permission to work 64 hours a week
The Branch of the Ministry of Labor and Labor in the Gyeonggi region approved the application of Samsung on 9 April. New application; It allows employees to work 64 hours a week for the first three months and 60 hours a week in the next three months. Thus, the company will provide continuity and speed of production processes.
On March 14, the South Korean government put into effect a regulation that allows companies to overcome the legal weekly working time limit. Within the scope of the new law, companies can apply for more overtime.
Samsung came to the fore as the first company using this right. The application within the scope of the regulation includes R & D employees only within Samsung Foundry. With this move, the company wants to have a competitive advantage over its main rival in the global chip market, Taiwan -based TSMC.
