Qualcomm’s two popular flagship models, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, were compared. Does Qualcomm only bring innovations on paper? Or are there serious differences on the performance side? Here is the answer.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is more performant than Gen 2!
As you know, every company produces its new model better than the previous one. Or so he markets it. This situation was also a matter of curiosity for Qualcomm. The company, which launched its flagship model S8 Gen 3 in 2023, was wondering whether it made updates on paper or whether there was real improvement. Performance reports for this question were shared today.
The winner of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 race, which reveals GPU, CPU, memory and UX performance in AnTuTu, was Gen 3, as we predicted. However, the performance difference reveals that the two processors were not updated only on paper. Likewise, in processor performance, Gen 2 scores 379,912 points, while Gen 3 completes the tests with 456,557 points.
S8 Gen 3 makes a big difference to Gen 2, which got 869,993 points and 598,302 points in the GPU wing, and makes a difference of approximately 100 thousand points in the memory wing. On the user experience side, Gen 2, which received 287,717 points, again lags behind Gen 3, which received 372,851 points. Looking at the overall scores, it is seen that Gen 2 scores 1,561,695 points, while Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 scores 2,089,376 points.
This reveals that the S8 Gen 3 has a CPU improvement of more than 20% and a GPU increase of 40% compared to the 8 Gen 2. Among the processors that were also subjected to 3DMark tests, Gen 3 was found to be 50 percent more powerful.
The conclusion to be obtained here is that even if Qualcomm produces processors with similar features, there are serious differences on the performance side. This increases the expectation for Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which will be released very soon. What do you think about this? You can express your ideas in the comments.
