QualcommAlthough the information about Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, ‘s new flagship mobile processor, is kept highly confidential, the information that has recently leaked to the internet is gradually revealing details about the device. According to information leaked to the internet today, it was learned that the first phones with this processor will be released in October. There was a second leak on the same day, and a video shared on Bilibili showed that the engineering sample of Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 was put through the AnTuTu benchmark test.
According to the video, the processor received 1,769,083 points in the test, performing even below the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. However, this may be due to the fact that the processor is still an engineering sample and faces heavy CPU throttling. This is one possible reason for the lower-than-expected performance.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 was spotted in AnTuTu test
The video also reveals the core architecture of the processor. Snapdragon 8 Gen 4It is expected to have a 2+6 core configuration consisting of two high-performance cores and six efficiency cores. The leaked video confirms that the chip includes two “Phoenix M” cores with a maximum clock speed of 2.4 GHz and “Phoenix L” cores capped at 1.939 GHz. Additionally, the codename of the chip appears to be “Sun for Arm x64”.
Although 4.2 GHz speeds were previously mentioned in rumors for performance cores, these speeds are thought to be specific to the engineering sample. It’s likely that Qualcomm will adjust these clock speeds in the final version. We’ll wait for Qualcomm to announce the final product and for independent reviews to give us a clearer picture of its true capability.
