Solar cell and panel integrated production facility opened in Izmir

Annual 1,200 MW panel, 800 MW cell capacity

Smart Solar Technologies has implemented Turkey’s second solar cell production facility in Aliağa district of Izmir, with an investment of 414 million dollars. This facility will offer a fully integrated structure, starting from silicon, covering ingot, wafer, cell and photovoltaic solar panel production processes.

Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacırin his speech at the opening “Smart Solar Technologies has implemented an investment plan with an annual capacity of 2 GW, covering all production processes from ingot to panel. “This investment will allow Turkey to gain a strategic capability not only in our renewable energy sector, but also in chip production.” he said.

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, in the wind and sun installed capacity over 33 thousand megawatts He stated that electricity produced from wind and sun has now met the annual electricity needs of all households. Minister Bayraktar, “We increased the share of renewable energy in our current installed capacity to 60 percent.” while saying “Renewable energy installed capacity We are in the top 5 in Europe, 11th in the world We take part. Hopefully, this year we will be among the top 3 countries in Europe and the top 9 countries in the world.” he said.
