SpaceX shared striking visuals from Starship test

After successfully completing Starship’s sixth test flight, SpaceX published striking images of the mission moments. In particular, the dramatic moment when the upper stage of the rocket, Starship, separated from the lower stage, Super Heavy, attracted great attention on social media platforms. These frames reveal moments that signal a new era in humanity’s space adventure.

Starship and Super Heavy separation was caught on camera

During the launch from the Starbase base in Texas on November 19, 2024, the 120-meter-high Starship was carried into space with the 17 million pounds of thrust of the Super Heavy booster. Separation occurred over the Gulf of Mexico approximately 2 minutes and 45 seconds after liftoff. In the photos shared by SpaceX, it seems that this moment is captured from an impressive perspective.

Following separation, Starship completed its orbital journey and made a controlled descent into the Indian Ocean. The Super Heavy booster could not perform the planned capture maneuver during its descent. The booster was directed into the Gulf of Mexico instead by mechanical arms on the landing tower, but data from the mission was stated to be critical for future flights.

This test of Starship is considered as part of NASA’s preparations to send humans to the Moon within the scope of the Artemis III mission. In this mission, which will be carried out in 2026, Starship will be modified and used to land the first woman and the first non-white astronaut on the Moon. It is also known that SpaceX plans to increase Starship’s propulsion capacity by adding new and more powerful Raptor engines.
