A new decision published in the Official Gazette today officially started the Special Consumption Tax reduction on plug-in hybrid cars. This new regulation, which aims to encourage the use of environmentally friendly and low-emission vehicles, may lead to significant changes in the automotive industry and consumer preferences.
According to the new regulation, rechargeable hybrid vehicles with carbon dioxide emissions below 25 grams and an electric range of 70 km or more will be able to benefit from SCT rates ranging from 30 percent to 70 percent depending on certain engine volume and SCT base criteria.
Thanks to this discount, rechargeable hybrid vehicles will become more accessible to a wider audience. Increasing interest in environmentally friendly vehicles may also accelerate investments in rechargeable hybrid and electric vehicle technologies in the automotive industry. Therefore, the widespread use of low-emission vehicles will contribute to improving air quality and reducing carbon emissions.
Consumers will be able to benefit from both the flexibility provided by the gasoline engine and the fuel economy and environmentally friendly driving experience offered by the electric engine. The new regulation will be valid from today.
We can say that this SCT reduction on rechargeable hybrid vehicles is an important step that will have positive results for both consumers and the environment. In addition, this regulation may accelerate Turkey’s transition to a greener and more sustainable transportation network. Because it highlights electric vehicles instead of ordinary internal combustion vehicles for the end consumer.
The decision is as follows:
ARTICLE 11- 87.03 GTİ.P to the list numbered (II) annexed to the Special Consumption Tax Law numbered 4760 dated 6/6/2002. The following sub-lines with the rates shown opposite them have been added before the sub-line “- Only with electric motors” in the “- Others” line of the numbered row.
