Spotify, one of the most used music and podcast platforms in the world, recently increased its Premium package for the second time in a year at the company’s headquarters in America. A few weeks after the second price increase, the company announced that it will be available only in the United States for now. more affordable Basis offers the plan to users.
Special for those who find Premium expensive: Basic plan
The newly introduced affordable basic plan is currently available to users for $10.99. The only difference between the Basic plan and the Premium plan is that there will be a limit on audiobook listening. While you can listen to audiobooks unlimitedly in the Premium plan, you will be able to listen to only 15 audiobooks per month in the Basic plan. So this plan is offered as a downgrade for users who don’t listen to a lot of audiobooks. On the other hand, there are no restrictions on music and podcast services.
What surprises users is that this plan is only valid for eligible users. To use the Basic plan, you must first be a Premium subscriber. Since this plan is not available on Spotfiy’s subscription page, you cannot directly use the Basic plan. A company representative says that if you’re already an existing subscriber and signed in on your desktop or Android phone, you’ll be able to see the options.
iPhone and iPad owners will not be able to switch to this plan directly from the application. To switch, they need to log in to their Spotify account from a mobile browser or a computer. The reason for this is that the Spotify application conflicts with App Store policies.
So what are your thoughts about this new plan? Do you think it will come to our country soon? Please don’t forget to write your thoughts in the comments section below.
