Tesla Model Y redesigned with code name “Juniper”

A mysterious Tesla Model Y was spotted under camouflage in California, USA. This has reignited rumors that the popular electric SUV has been redesigned with the codename “Juniper.” In an image shared on Reddit, a black Model Y with its front and rear bumpers covered was seen. According to Not a Tesla App, this model has a front-mounted camera for parking assistance. This is an important innovation after Tesla removed ultrasonic sensors years ago.

Similarities between Tesla Model 3 and Model Y

Model 3, the sedan counterpart of Model Y, was renewed in the USA earlier this year. In Europe, these innovations were introduced last September. Tesla redesigned the Model 3’s front and rear bumpers, added narrower headlights and added tines to the taillights. Additionally, a new rear font was used, which Tesla replaced with a text logo.

Inside, the Model 3 was equipped with innovations such as an instrument panel RGB strip, new ventilated seats, a rear entertainment screen and the removal of traditional steering wheel stalks, found in the Model Y produced in China. This change had negative effects on Tesla’s last JD Power quality report.

Tesla Model Y, which was the best-selling vehicle worldwide last year, is known as the automaker’s latest vehicle with steering wheel stalks used to activate turn signals and gear changes. It has not yet been confirmed whether the displayed “Juniper” Model Y will have steering stalks like the latest Model 3, S, X and Cybertruck vehicles, but this change seems likely.

Model 3 and Model Y share many parts and design elements. For example, changes such as the switch from chrome coatings to matte black coatings and the addition of wireless phone chargers were seen on both models.

We can’t wait to see what Tesla will offer with the new Model Y version codenamed “Juniper”. In particular, it is a matter of great curiosity what kind of innovations this new model will bring to existing Model Y users and new customers. We also wonder if he will come to Turkey.
