Tesla made an interesting warning to its users who are trying to charge their electric cars faster. A method called the “wet towel trick” appeals to drivers who want to shorten the charging time of the vehicle. Alright What is the wet towel trick for Tesla? and what does it do?
What is the wet towel trick in Tesla vehicles?
The “wet towel” method may cause trouble for Tesla owners who want to shorten charging time. According to the company’s statement, this method is done by passing a damp cloth around the charging cable. However, Tesla underlined that this method is dangerous for the battery and Supercharger.
The Supercharger includes temperature monitors that prevent Tesla vehicles from overheating while charging. Some Tesla owners disable the temperature monitor by cooling the charging head. In this way, they can fill their vehicles faster.
According to the company’s post, no accidents have occurred yet in batteries and Superchargers. However, fooling the temperature monitor can cause damage to vehicles.
In a post on the subject, Tesla said, “Placing a wet cloth in the Supercharger cable area does not increase charging rates and interferes with temperature monitors, creating the risk of overheating or damage. “Please avoid doing this,” he said.
Tesla also recently made the NACS connector standard across the industry. Giants such as General Motors and Ford announced that they will use the Tesla NACS connector in their electric vehicles produced starting from 2025.
