A new screenshot has emerged regarding Samsung’s One UI 7 update, for which expectations have been increasing for a while. This image offers some clues about the user experience (UX) changes that Samsung will bring with the new software update. It is observed that these changes are especially inspired by iOS.
Innovations expected in One UI 7
It is said that One UI 7 will not just be a minor update, but will rearrange many things. These edits include animations and designs of Samsung application icons. Previously leaked screenshots showed what the Camera and Gallery app icons (and the Camera UI) might look like.
The latest leaked screenshot on X via @chunvn8888 reveals a new “Icon and widget style” settings panel. There are two main options in this panel: “Classic” and “Bold”. The style called “Classic” preserves the labels of app icons while adding home screen widget labels. This feature is not included in the current One UI 6.1.1 version, there are no labels on home screen widgets in the current version.
On the other hand, in One UI 7, the “Bold” style completely removes labels from both app icons and widgets. This style removes app icon labels while maintaining the widget configuration found in the current One UI 6.
At first glance, this screenshot suggests that Samsung will not offer the option to keep the current icon and widget style in the One UI 7 update. There doesn’t appear to be any settings to preserve app icon labels, and there are no labels at the bottom of home screen widgets.
However, it should not be ignored that these new styles can offer more. There is no clear information yet on whether there are additional customization options in other menus or whether labels are individually customizable. We will have to wait for the release of One UI 7 or further leaks.
On the other hand, even if we assume that the screenshot is correct, it should not be forgotten that Samsung is still in the development phase. Many things can change during beta testing. However, considering all these details, it can be said that Samsung plans to make more radical changes with One UI 7 and users are eagerly waiting for these changes.
As more information about the One UI 7 update emerges, users will have the opportunity to dive into the new features and changes in more detail. Samsung’s efforts to improve user experience with software updates seem to continue in this update.
