The first in artificial intelligence-supported robotic dental treatment
Perceptive’s AI-powered robotic system uses a combination of AI-powered 3D imaging software and robotic arms. But of course it’s not that simple.
According to the company’s statement, Perceptive uses 3D volumetric data to diagnose the target area in dental applications and create an actionable treatment plan. Thus, these robotic-based surgical procedures, can do it completely independently. This allows applications such as dental crowns that take two hours or more to be completed in just 15 minutes.
According to the company, thanks to this advanced scanner, patients can clearly see their dental health and better understand when they need care. On this subject, Perceptive CEO and Founder Dr. Chris Ciriello said:
“We are excited to have successfully completed the world’s first fully automated robotic dental procedure. This medical breakthrough increases the precision and efficiency of dental procedures and democratizes access to better dental care, improving patient experience and clinical outcomes. We hope to advance our system and pioneer scalable, fully automated dental healthcare solutions for patients.” We look forward to doing so.”
Although the new development will reduce the error rate in the field of surgery, the robot is not yet FDA (by the United States Food and Drug Administration) not approved. However, if it is accessible, we can see similar studies in other health fields.
