They will provide information about the youth portal and TikTok reporting tools
Social media platforms face constant scrutiny and new regulations regarding online safety, especially when it comes to younger users. The Online Safety Act, signed into law last year, requires companies to protect users, especially young people, from online harm occurring on their platforms, and imposes hefty fines on companies found to be violating the law.
Val Richey, head of global safety outreach and partnerships at TikTok, said:Listening to feedback from teens and parents is a big part of our safety work on TikTok. We want to ensure families can enjoy our platform by making meaningful changes based on their feedback and offering tools like Family Matching.” says.
TikTok also offers resources like the Safety Center, which includes guides on bullying and body image, viewed by more than a million people each month. To encourage parental involvement, TikTok is rolling out Family Matching to new users over the age of 35. The social media giant will also launch more than 10 in-app media literacy campaigns throughout 2024.
