Yayman, Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Digital Media Commission, said in his statement to DHA:The TikTok issue is a national security issue for Türkiye. Our nation wants TikTok to be shut down” said.
Yayman made the following statement regarding the issue:
“The TikTok issue is a national security issue for Türkiye. If our nation was asked, if a public survey was conducted, 90 percent of the nation would want TikTok to be closed. Because TikTok has now surpassed itself and the posts made to get interaction are so dull, so strange, so disconnected from reality that it is not possible to approve them. As a commission, we do not have a stance on shutting down TikTok or imposing an access ban; this is BTK’s stance. But if you ask me as the chairman of the commission, politics is done together with the nation. Our nation wants TikTok to be shut down and TikTok definitely needs to shake up and come to its senses.”
Mayor Yayman emphasized that he received many requests from citizens to close TikTok and said:
“Noting that he made a complaint about TikTok, he said, “I do not use TikTok. People who see me on the street say, ‘If you close this TikTok, you will open the door to heaven.’ There are a lot of serious criticisms and complaints about TikTok. Unfortunately, TikTok is playing the devil’s advocate and TikTok posts have become an object of hatred in society. People who are old enough to post there and act in very irrational and absurd ways to raise awareness. I do not see these as areas of freedom. I see this place as a place that has completely moved away from human values, not local and national values, but a total separation from universal values and a great alienation.. It is not possible to accept these. I would like to address TikTok’s representatives in Türkiye and global network providers once again; I never accept what TikTok does. “I never approve of these posts, and I, like the whole society, expect TikTok to have a publishing policy that is in line with Turkey’s moral values, moral values, traditions and customs, especially the community rules.”
Reaction to posts about Ataturk
Reacting to the posts about Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on TikTok recently, Yayman said, “We never approve or approve of the posts about Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on TikTok. We never encourage the evisceration of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk as a value and the trolling and trolling of the figure of Mustafa Kemal.” “We do not approve of it. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk is a common value of the Turkish nation, and trolling reaching this point is actually one of the most important indicators of the crisis that the digital world has entered,” he said.
