International conglomerate Match Group, which owns Tinder, Hinge, OkCupid and nearly all popular dating apps, has signed a major partnership with OpenAI. The company shared a few details, stating that it will provide artificial intelligence assistance to employees in “work-related tasks.”
Tinder steps into the age of artificial intelligence with ChatGPT
The dating giant says it has a long-term plan to squeeze AI “into literally everything” in its apps. Incorporating ChatGPT into the daily responsibilities of its employees is the first big step towards transforming online dating into an AI-driven business.
The company celebrated its new partnership with a press release issued by Match Group’s Corporate Communications team. The statement includes quotes that appear to be penned by the AI, as if it has its own feelings about corporate strategy.
The deal includes 1000 ChatGPT Enterprise licenses purchased for an undisclosed amount. The company says it plans to use AI to eliminate communication, coding, design, analysis, creating templates and other repetitive tasks.
Tinder strengthens trust and security efforts with ChatGPT artificial intelligence feature
Will Wu, Match Group’s Chief Technology Officer, says using AI “is like adding a pinch of magic to our daily tasks.” This will literally mean a “total business culture revolution,” Wu promises.
A Match Group spokesperson noted that the company has been using artificial intelligence for much of its recent period to strengthen trust and security efforts, improve its matching algorithms, and for a variety of other purposes. But adding AI to everything brings a sea change to a company that has astronomical power over users’ dating lives.
In early February, a man reportedly talked to 5,000 women on Tinder via ChatGPT. It has been reported that this situation does not violate Match Group’s policies. It was stated that this was to “encourage authenticity”, which is the most important artificial intelligence principle.
A company spokesperson said the company believes Tinder and Match Group will use artificial intelligence to make dating better. In fact, Match Group wants to explore creating its own AI tools that can perform tasks like writing conversation starters or suggesting date ideas.
Which means the next time you’re chatting with someone on a dating app, you might have to ask yourself: Are you dating a robot? You can write your opinions in the comments section below.
