Türk Telekom has undertaken a new project in Çorum in order to bring the opportunities offered by 5G technology to the agricultural sector. This collaboration with ZTE, one of the world’s leading information and communication technologies providers, aims to accelerate digital transformation in agriculture and disseminate modern applications. The 5G network established in Çorum, which was chosen as the pilot region, creates a significant difference in agricultural operations by integrating with advanced technologies such as drones and smart agricultural machines. This innovative project offers a model that supports environmental sustainability as well as increasing efficiency.
Within the scope of the project, operations such as precise irrigation, automatic fertilization and spraying were carried out with great success by taking advantage of the low latency and high speed features of 5G. The impact of smart machines and autonomous drones draws attention in order to ease the workload of farmers and optimize production processes, especially during busy agricultural seasons. These systems not only save time and costs, but also allow more efficient use of resources. Thus, local farmers can switch to a more sustainable production model by taking advantage of modern technology.
Türk Telekom Network Deputy General Manager Zafer Orhan described this project as an important step taken in line with Turkey’s digital transformation vision. Orhan stated that they offer solutions that support digitalization in all areas of life, thanks to fiber infrastructure, which is the cornerstone of innovative technologies. He emphasized that this initiative launched in Çorum is an important turning point not only in the agricultural sector but also in Turkey’s general digitalization process.
Another striking aspect of this project is its contributions to environmental sustainability. By taking advantage of the energy-efficient features of 5G technology, operational costs are reduced and an environmentally friendly production model is created. This infrastructure, in which the new generation wireless products developed by ZTE are integrated, provides a significant reduction in energy consumption and also enables a significant increase in data transmission speeds. Thus, a more positive picture is presented for both farmers and the environment.
ZTE Europe and America Regional President Aiguang Peng stated that this partnership constitutes a global example to demonstrate the potential of 5G technology. According to Peng, these innovative practices in the agricultural sector have the potential to bring a new perspective to food production and resource management processes not only in Turkey but around the world. With this collaboration with Türk Telekom, ZTE has once again demonstrated its vision of developing smart solutions that improve user experience and increase efficiency.
5G is the future of digitalization in agriculture
This project, implemented in cooperation with Türk Telekom and ZTE, stands out as a model of agricultural modernization not only in Çorum but also in other regions. A more efficient and environmentally friendly production process is aimed in the agricultural sector with the opportunities provided by 5G technology. This project contributes to both economic and environmental development of Turkey by increasing digitalization in agriculture. Türk Telekom’s work in this field is of great importance in terms of rapid adoption and dissemination of agricultural innovations.
