Kalyon PV, which has achieved a remarkable success in Turkey’s renewable energy sector, has taken an important step in the field of solar technologies. For the first time in the world after China, the company managed to domestically produce the ancestral seed, called “Seed”, which forms the basis of solar panel production, through its own R&D studies.
Turkey became the first country to develop Seed after China!
In the solar energy industry, “Seed” is a basic component that is at the heart of solar panels and forms the crystal structure of ingots. As Kalyon PV CEO Ersan Tüfekçi emphasized, with this success, the company reaches a localization rate of up to 90 percent in solar panel production, making significant contributions to the national economy.
Kalyon Photovoltaic Solar Technologies Factory (Kalyon PV), which is the first investment in the field of solar energy by Kalyon Holding, which has made not only Turkey’s but also the world’s leading investments in the field of solar energy, continues its breakthroughs in producing the technologies of the future with domestic and national resources.
Kalyon PV CEO Ersan Tüfekçi said:
“Within the scope of our research and development activities in our Ingot and Wafer factory; We reinforce our title of being the first company in the world to combine four factories, including R&D, under one roof outside of China, with the title of being the world’s only Seed producer outside of China that provides ingot crystal structure.
‘Seed’, which acts as yeast for the transformation of polysilicon, the raw material of the solar panel, into ingot, helps to provide the perfect crystal structure of our giant Ingots, which weigh an average of 350 kg and are 3.5 meters long.
Our domestic ‘Seed’ production, which brings our localization rate to 90 percent, raises Turkey to a unique position in the field of solar technologies. While we contribute to our product quality thanks to our seed production, we save time by eliminating the transportation process and significantly reduce our carbon emissions.
We are proud to have once again proven our country’s prowess in the field of technology in the international arena with our domestic Seed production, which we call ‘Ancestor Seed’. We want to be the Seed supplier of both Europe and the USA with this technological development, in which we have broken China’s monopoly..
We closely follow technology trends in the world. We continue our prototype work on semiconductor ingot and wafer production, which forms the basis of chip technology. We are one step closer to this goal with our local Seed production.
With a brand new solar cell design, we integrated TOPCON technology into panel production, which allows electrons to be transmitted better and increase the efficiency of the panels. TOPCON panels can provide higher efficiency in smaller areas compared to classical solar panels; Since fewer panels are needed in the project, it also offers savings in maintenance and cleaning costs and ease of use.”
Finally, Tüfekçi stated that they made their first high tonnage export of solar panels to the USA in recent months and stated that they aim to export 500 MW solar panels to many countries, especially the USA, in 2025.
