Varol Civil has become the new president of Galata Business Angels, one of the important players of the enterprise and investment ecosystem. Galata Business Angels operates as a non-profit association. Varol Civil, who took over the flag from Emre Kurttepeli, who has been the president since the day it was founded, will serve as the new president of GBA.
Varol Civil graduated from Istanbul University, Department of Economics in 1982. He completed his master’s degree in Finance and Banking at Istanbul University, Institute of Social Sciences. She attended Marmara University Contemporary Business Management program in 1992 and 1993.
Varol Civil started his career as a specialist in the Credit and Insurance department at Türk Ekonomi Bankası between 1983 and 1984, and then worked as a Sworn Auditor in the Banks Sworn Auditors Board of the Republic of Turkey Prime Ministry Undersecretariat of Treasury and Foreign Trade between 1985 and 1992. Civil served as Deputy General Manager at Arab-Turkish Bank between 1992-1995, and General Manager at Kapital Bank between 1995-1997. During this period, he completed his doctorate in Banking Law at Marmara University.
Varol Civil took on the duties of Deputy General Manager and Member of the Board of Directors at Türk Ekonomi Bankası in 1998. Civil has been serving as TEB General Manager and Chairman of the Board of Directors of bank subsidiaries for 10 years since 2003, and has been serving as Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Banks Association of Turkey for 7 years since 2006.
Varol Civil continues his duties in TEB group and TEB NV as a Member of the TEB Board of Directors as of September 2013. Civil, a “BKS Licensed” angel investor, is also on the Board of Directors of Turkey Endeavor Entrepreneur Support Program.
