Vivo introduced the new member of the V series, Vivo V40. This device is a slightly updated version of the Vivo S19 that was launched in China in May 2024. Vivo V40, which is currently on sale in Europe, is also in the certification process in India and is expected to be available in this market soon.
The most striking feature of Vivo V40 is its cameras. The device comes with a 50 MP main camera with ZEISS optics. This camera has an f/1.88 aperture, optical image stabilizer and 84° viewing angle. Additionally, it is equipped with a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle camera, ZEISS lenses and autofocus support. This camera has an f/2.0 aperture and a 119° viewing angle. The front camera is also quite impressive; The 50 MP autofocus group selfie camera has f / 2.0 aperture and 92° viewing angle. The rear camera can record 4K 30FPS video and offers gyroscope-supported electronic image stabilization (gyro-EIS) feature. The front camera supports 4K 30FPS video recording.
The hardware choice of the device is a bit thought-provoking. Vivo V40 comes with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, which was also used in the Vivo V30. However, LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage are preferred on the device. This combination of RAM and storage is often seen in more affordable devices. Therefore, it is a matter of curiosity why Vivo does not offer more advanced options.
The design of Vivo V40 is also quite attractive. The device is 7.58 mm thick and weighs 190 grams. All edges are rounded and the back is made of glass. There are two different matte color options: Stellar Silver and Nebula Purple. Additionally, the device has an IP68 water resistance certificate, which means it will not be damaged even if it falls into water at a depth of 1.5 meters. On the front, there is a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED display with 1.5K (2800×1260 pixels) resolution. This screen supports 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support and 4500 nits maximum brightness. There is also a fingerprint sensor inside the screen.
Vivo V40 comes with a large battery with a capacity of 5,500mAh and supports 80W fast charging. This charging speed can fully charge the device in approximately 48 minutes. The device offers USB-PD charging support, which means it can be fast-charged with any PD charger that supports at least 80W.
As a result, Vivo V40 is a smartphone that stands out especially with its front camera. While it offers a smooth performance in daily use, it also provides an adequate experience for games. However, it may struggle to run heavy games at high frame rates. If you want to take good photos and selfies, Vivo V40 is definitely an option worth considering. Additionally, if there is a drop in the price of the Vivo V30, this model could also be a more affordable alternative. It is not yet clear when the Vivo V40 will arrive in Turkey, but according to rumors, it is expected to be introduced this month or in August.
