Google’s new flagship phones, the Pixel 9 series, are unexpectedly the latest Android It has been announced that the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro XL models, which will go on sale next week, will come with Android 14 out of the box.
Why did Google choose Android 14?
As you know, Google often used the new generation Pixel phones to introduce new Android versions. In this sense, for the first time, a Pixel series will come with the previous operating system, Android 14, and not with the latest Android version of that period. So what’s the reason for this?
Google states that especially artificial intelligence-supported features were developed with Android 14 and that they need time to integrate all features for Android 15. Instead, a solution was produced such as transferring some features introduced during the Android 15 Beta process to Android 14.
For example, the interface where the screenshot preview is displayed at the top with a new pill-shaped bar design with round buttons is also available on Pixel 9. It was stated that this new design works compatible with the reminder feature in Pixel Screenshots.
The new artificial intelligence features in the Pixel 9 series run on Android 14. These include Gemini Live, the new Gemini interface that floats over apps, and the Pixel Studio renderer. On the camera side, innovations such as “Add me” and “Reimagine with” attract attention.
In summary, in order to use some of the basic features of Android 15, the Pixel 9 series out of the box will be sufficient. However, Pixel 9 owners have to wait a few more months to experience the full Android 15 experience.
