McDonald’s once produced a strange ice cream scoop. Many of us will remember these spoons the moment they see them.
Well this “square and hollow” What was the purpose of the spoons?
One marketing strategyIf so, what strategy could have been followed in this design?
This design, known as the McFlurry spoon, had a functional purpose rather than aesthetics.
square tipThis spoon, hollow and hooked, made the process of mixing ice cream much easier for McDonald’s employees. The answer to the question of why the handle of the spoon is empty depends on how McFlurry is prepared.
McFlurryis actually McDonald’s ice cream. The ice cream is placed in a mixer machine and selected toppings are added. At this point, the McFlurry spoon has an important role: The handle of the spoon is designed to fit tightly into the stirrer. Employees push the spoon into the machine, and as the spoon spins, the ingredients are evenly mixed into the ice cream.
In this clever design of the spoon, every ingredient is mixed homogeneously.
In addition, this spoon provides ease of use and increases process efficiency. A hygienic solution too offers. However, this iconic spoon, identified with McDonald’s, unfortunately does not exist today.
