Samsung offered its users a number of new features and improvements with the One UI 6.0 update. However, it removed a vital feature for OLED screen phones and tablets: screen burn protection. The company promised to bring this feature back with a software update, and it seems that it has kept its promise with the One UI 6.1 update.
A few days ago, Samsung released the One UI 6.1 update to the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Tab S9 series. Along with a host of AI features, smoother animations and transitions, One UI 6.1 also brings back the OLED screen burn protection feature.
In One UI 6.1 tested by the Toranji team, the screen burn protection feature works as expected. As seen in the GIF image, UI elements in the status bar and navigation bar on the Galaxy S23 Ultra move slightly every few minutes.
Although this feature has currently only been tested on the Galaxy S23 series, there is no clear information whether it is also available in the Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Tab S9 series. However, there is no reason why Samsung could offer this feature on the Galaxy S23 and not on other devices.
This innovation brought by One UI 6.1 stands out as a precaution against the screen burn-in problem that may occur over time, especially on devices with OLED screens. Screen burn-in is a problem that can occur when the screen displays the same image for a long time and can leave permanent image marks on some parts of the screen. It seems that Samsung aims to prevent its users from encountering such problems with this update.
This update can be considered as part of Samsung’s effort to continuously improve the user experience. With innovations such as AI-supported features, improved animations and transitions, One UI 6.1 aims to offer its users a more fluid and enjoyable usage experience.
Bringing back the screen burn protection feature, especially for users who prefer OLED screen technology, shows the importance Samsung attaches to customer feedback and its policy of focusing on user satisfaction. This update allows Galaxy device owners to fully benefit from the innovations brought by technology, while also allowing them to use their devices safely for longer.
Samsung’s One UI 6.1 update once again demonstrates the company’s competence and innovation-oriented approach in software development. In addition to the OLED screen burn-in protection feature, along with other improvements and new features, Samsung continues to offer its users a richer and more customized mobile experience.
