Xiaomi’s new SUV model YU7 was displayed in all its nakedness during test drives. These images offer the first detailed look at the design of the fully electric vehicle.
What kind of design does Xiaomi YU7 come with?
According to the statement of Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, the car will be officially released under the name YU-7. Spy photos leaked in China reveal a design that blends SUV and sports car elements. The long bonnet and rearward-positioned cabin are reminiscent of the Ferrari Purosangue.
Although the YU7’s similarity with the Purosangue is not as obvious as first thought, the vehicle generally looks like the SUV version of the SU7 model. Considering its dimensions, YU7; It will have a length of 4999 mm, a width of 1996 mm and a height of 1600 mm. The wheelbase is stated as 3000 mm.
Under the hood, the dual-motor variant of the YU7 offers remarkable power. Two electric motors with a power of 220 kW on the front axle and 288 kW on the rear axle produce a total of 508 kW (681 horsepower). In this way, the SUV can reach a maximum speed of 253 km/h.
NMC batteries produced by CATL will be used in the dual-motor version. As with Xiaomi’s SU7 model, the entry-level model will feature BYD’s affordable lithium iron phosphate (blade) batteries.
It was originally estimated that the YU7 would be available in March 2025. However, due to production capacity problems at Xiaomi’s factory, the release date of YU7 was postponed to late 2025.
