YouTube Music added a new discovery feature to artist pages: Samples

According to 9to5Google, YouTube Music has now moved the “Samples” feature, which it introduced in 2023 to make it easier for users to discover music, to artist pages. With this new feature, it will be possible to access a stream of short video segments via the “Samples” tab on artist pages.

The “Samples” tab is positioned as the second tab of the application and offers an interface based on short video streams. This design is inspired by YouTube’s popular short video format, Shorts. The feature allows listeners to discover new music by using YouTube Music’s extensive music video archive. It aims to offer a wide range from the latest song of a new artist to lesser-known songs of a legendary artist.

iOS users can now see the “Shorts” button at the top of artist pages. This button launches a stream of songs directly from the relevant artist in short video format. In this way, users can quickly browse the artist’s songs and get an idea before listening to the full album or discography.

Adding another innovation to its discovery features, YouTube Music has transformed the “Top Songs” section on artist pages into a carousel format. In this way, users can more easily navigate among the most popular songs.

However, the “Samples” button is currently only available to iOS users. There is no update yet for Android users to access this feature.

In addition, YouTube Music’s “Speed ​​Dial” feature on Android tablets is finally available. Android tablets, which previously only had the old “Listen Again” interface, have now switched to this new design with a 1×9 format carousel consisting of three pages.
