Adastec autonomous bus hits the road in the USA
The autonomous bus controlled by Adastec starts operating in the US state of Michigan. The bus, which will carry out pilot tests in a national park called Sleeping Bear Dunes National, will have achieved some firsts in this sense. The bus, which will travel autonomously in the national park, can carry up to 21 people throughout the tour.
It is planned to undergo two weeks of programming and safety testing before passenger services are launched in the national park. Making a statement on the subject, Adastec CEO Ali Peker stated that the bus uses autonomous driving technology approved by Michigan State University.
In his statement, Peker said, “This will be the first of its kind, so we hope it will be repeated across the country, we are very excited.” The trials, which will be carried out for 45 days, will be supported by a grant of 250 thousand dollars received by the company.
Peker also said that the success carried out at the university attracted the attention of many customers in Europe. In this context, he underlined that they made the company’s technology available in Finland, Norway, Germany and Turkey.
If autonomous driving tests are successful, bus service is planned to be expanded to national parks across the country. This will enable the autonomous technology developed by Adastec to grow further.
