Türkiye Will Be Chery’s Gateway to Europe

For those who don’t know, just last month, Chinese automobile manufacturer BYD launched an investment project worth 1 billion dollars in Turkey and announced that it would establish a new production facility with a capacity of 150 thousand vehicles in Manisa. Now, it is claimed that another China-based automotive giant, Chery, is waiting in line for a similar project.

According to sources close to the company, the brand, which started operating again in our country last year, is in the final stages of signing a major investment agreement with Turkey.

The third company that sold the most automobiles in Turkey in July aims to strengthen its growth in the market with its new investment project and to export more to Europe and other nearby markets via Turkey.

New Factory Project Will Be Cleared in September

According to reports, the selection of the location where the Chery Turkey factory will be established and Chery’s request for concessions for internal combustion vehicles are the main reasons why the negotiations took longer. In particular, instead of Turkey offering an incentive package or concession specifically for internal combustion vehicles; It is said that it wants to provide incentives for hybrid, electric vehicles, battery technologies and green investments.

If we talk about the location of the production facility, it is claimed that Chery’s location preference may be in Samsun. Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Halit Doğan said that Chery had recently come to Samsun and made inspections regarding the issue. However, it is among the current rumors that Manisa is among the alternatives for the factory. Authorities expect the process to become clear in September.
