Electronic Arts (EA) canceled the major changes it planned to make to the game’s battle pass system, following intense reaction from Apex Legends players. Player complaints about changes to be made in Season 22 caused EA to reconsider this decision, and the planned changes were cancelled.
Apex Legends Battle Pass canceled after player reactions
With Season 22 of Apex Legends, two $10 battle passes were planned to be offered for each season. Additionally, players’ ability to purchase premium battle passes with Apex Coins, the game’s virtual currency, would be removed. However, these changes were met with great reaction from players.
EA announced that it has changed these plans, taking into account the feedback from players. The company said, “You talked, we listened” and announced that premium battle passes can be purchased again with 950 Apex Coins with Season 22. EA acknowledged that these changes could have been handled better and stated that they were aware of their mistakes.
Apex Legends’ current battle pass system covers 110 levels across the entire season. However, in the future, each season will include two battle passes, each with 60 levels. With the start of Season 22, the first premium battle pass will be unlockable by completing “simple in-game missions”. With the second split, premium battle passes will be available for 950 Apex Coins.
EA has promised to deliver more timely, transparent and consistent communication to players. He also emphasized that cheaters, game stability and quality of life updates are their priorities. He stated that Season 22 will feature a number of improvements that will increase the game’s stability and include bug fixes.
EA expressed its gratitude to the players and stated that the passion and time of the players played a big role in Apex Legends reaching its current success. The improvements and bug fixes to be made in Season 22 will be explained in detail in the Patch Notes, which will be published on August 5.
