Apple will offer a surprise application with iOS 18.3

Apple released iOS 18.3 beta 2 this week. Although the update does not contain any major innovations, it may herald a new Apple application: an application called “Invites”.

The first clues about the “Apple Invites” application, which Apple has not yet released, were noticed in the beta versions of iOS 18.2. However, these codes were removed in the final version. Now, it has come to the fore again with iOS 18.3 beta 2.

According to the code analysis, this application will help users organize meetings and face-to-face events. Although Apple’s Calendar application currently provides this function, it is thought that the Invites application will offer additional features.

The information contained in the codes shows that the Invites application will work integrated with iCloud and that there will also be a web version that can be accessed via iCloud.com. It is also stated that it will provide integration with a new system called “GroupKit” included in iOS 18. GroupKit is responsible for managing database models for groups, and although it has been around since iOS 18.0, it has not been used by any Apple applications until now.

The application will show the user the list of people invited to the event and their attendance status. It’s not yet clear whether this will be a standalone app or a feature integrated into other Apple services like iMessage. However, the application is expected to come with a more fun and user-friendly interface than the existing Calendar application.

Although Apple introduced iOS 18 at the WWDC event in June 2024, it did not mention this application at all. Therefore, there is a possibility that the company will not implement this idea, which is still in the testing phase, in future versions.

In October, it was revealed that Apple was working on a dedicated App Store for games, including Game Center features. Although it is known that this application is being tested on internal versions of iOS 18, there is a high probability that it will be postponed to iOS 19.

Although it remains unclear when Apple will officially introduce the Invites application, it is thought that it may offer an innovative solution that will facilitate users’ event organization processes.

When will Apple release the iOS 18.3 update?

Apple will most likely release the iOS 18.3 update before the end of this month. Current information is that the update will be released on January 22.
