Bayraktar Kızılelma PT-3 in taxi test
The 3rd prototype of the unmanned warplane Bayraktar Kızılelma, for the development of which a huge resource of 1 billion dollars was allocated from both design and structural changes is in the past. In addition, Baykar is in the PT-3 configuration to a new engine and switched. This engine has afterburner capability and therefore supersonic flight capability.
Although Bayraktar Kızılelma PT-3 has completed its first taxi test, it will continue its tests. We will probably witness the aircraft flying with this configuration before the end of this year. For those who don’t know, afterburner is a propulsion system used especially in jet aircraft to increase acceleration during takeoff and climb or to exceed the speed of sound.
On the other hand, Baykar is also working on its own jet engine. The company’s engine is aimed to be ready within 4 years. TEI continues its development and testing activities on the TF-6000 and its afterburner version, the TF-10000. The TF-6000 is intended to provide 6,000 lbf thrust. The target for the TEI-TF10000 turbofan engine is 10,000 lbf thrust. These two engines of TEI can also be used for TAI’s unmanned warplanes and Kızılelma.
